About the ARTIST
award winning artist tara sheldon comes from four generations of artists and combines her inherent sense of the value of art with her experience as a life coach and a certified feng shui professional. the Mautner Project selected one of Tara's cut-outs, "the dance" for the theme of their annual Gala in 2006. tara was one of ten artists selected for the pyramid feng shui calendar for 2006 and was one of two artists with two images included in the calendar. tara has participated in art shows with coastal gallery in rehoboth beach, de, church of the pilgrims in washington, dc, the chevy chase women's club in chevy chase, maryland, and the colonial place riverview art walk & art by the hearth in norfolk, va..
inspired by the paper cut-outs of henri matisse, tara balances her practiced understanding of the impact of color on mood with the spatial principles of feng shui. each paper cut-out evokes an engaged emotional response from its beholder and is reminiscent of the simple --and sometimes not so simple -- joys of everyday life.
tara lives in norfolk, virginia, with her partner, kristie and their dog, four cats, and plethora of fish. a self described "dancing fool," an avid gardener, and lover of the great outdoors, tara enjoys taking their dog for strolls along the water and going whale watching every chance she gets!
